Overview
What is the main goal for this project?

Virtual Internship Opportunity

Bring on one or more students from Bow Valley College’s Chiu School of Business in the Business Administration Diploma, Digital Marketing major, to be your virtual intern in a project-based experience. Students will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the internship period, connecting with you as needed via virtual communication tools.

Students are available for anywhere between 300-450 hours of placement from May/June 2020 through to August 2020. Hours, start dates, and end dates are flexible. Expected hourly rate between $17-21 per hour.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, student placements will only occur virtually.

What tasks will learners need to complete to achieve the project goal?

Project Examples

What can our students do for your company?

Students can complete a project or specific tasks for your organization over the placement period. To start, we ask that you provide a fully developed primary project. Providing a primary project will provide structure for the internship, and gives the student (and company) a specific list of deliverables ending in a completed goal. As the internship continues, if the primary project is completed, other duties or projects may be assigned to the student as mutually decided upon.

Project examples that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:

Create a social media campaign

  • Creation of a content calendar across multiple channels (Facebook, Instagram, twitter etc.)
  • Compile weekly/monthly reports measuring reach, engagement, etc.; dependent on the company’s access to data
  • Coordination of social media management software such as Hootsuite, Sprout, etc.; dependent on the student’s prior knowledge or the company’s willingness to provide basic training

Create a digital marketing strategy

  • Creation of a weekly/monthly content calendar across chosen digital marketing channels (blogs, YouTube, paid/earned content, company website, LinkedIn, etc.)
  • Research paid/earned digital marketing opportunities including pricing, etc.
  • Develop copy-writing and creative content
  • Compile weekly/monthly reports measuring reach, engagement etc. dependent on the company’s access to data
Additional company criteria

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Placements are paid, with students expected to earn between $17 -21 per hour.

Provide a dedicated contact who will act as the student's primary supervisor over the duration of the virtual placement. A secondary contact should be provided as a backup. Students will interact virtually with their primary contact on a daily basis, or as needed.

Be available for a quick phone call with the Student Engagement Officer - Coop Lead to initiate your relationship and confirm your scope is an appropriate fit for the course.
