Welcome to Riipen FuturePath

Riipen FuturePath connects you with career-ready students for impactful short-term projects that could lead to full-time hires. These students are eager and ready to showcase their skills and are available for full-time roles if they’re a good fit for your team.

Here’s what you need to know to get started with this cohort:

Key Program Details

Project Format & Timelines

  • Each project involves 60 hours of student work per student
  • Employers can work with as many students as they require on each project
  • Students can apply to up to five projects between June 2–July 18. Once accepted, they are committed to that specific project.

Employers set the project dates at the time of matching.

Projects must be scheduled for a duration between 2 to 8 weeks.

For the June 2025 cohort:

  • Start dates must fall between June 9 and July 28, 2025
  • End dates must fall between June 16 and September 19, 2025
  • When choosing your timeframe, ensure the project duration is no shorter than 2 weeks and no longer than 8 weeks.

Your Role as a Project Host

You're more than just a employer—you’re a mentor. As a host, you’ll provide at least 5 hours of mentorship, which includes:

  • A kickoff meeting
  • Clear guidance and expectations
  • Ongoing check-ins and feedback

Your support ensures students stay on track and feel confident in their contributions.

Funding & Flexibility

Open to students who are deemed eligible in the program application process.

Projects should be clearly scoped to attract the right talent.

Students are paid $1,400.40 CAD, split into two payments:

  1. $700.20 once 30 hours have been logged in the worklog
  2. $700.20 upon successful completion of the project

Payment is co-funded: $700.20 is covered by Riipen, and $700.20 is contributed by the employer.

Attracting the Right Students

To make your project more appealing:

  • Use a clear, compelling title
  • Outline goals, deliverables, and required skills
  • Keep your project scope focused and realistic
  • A well-defined project attracts stronger applications, faster.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Projects require clearly defined deliverables outlined in the project description. Deliverables include the working documents and the final project uploaded for review and payment. This may encompass source code, presentations, marketing materials, etc.

To validate completion, students submit deliverables as uploaded files with a reflective note. Tangible proof or samples of completed work are necessary, with redacted deliverables if under a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

Employers are also required to approve worklogs before invoices are processed. They will be asked to review deliverables to verify that the submitted work matches the work completed.

Project Examples

Requirements

The Riipen FuturePath team is looking for multidisciplinary projects that students can complete in 60 hours within 2-8 weeks. Students are limited to a maximum of 10 hours per day and 30 hours per week.

Project submissions should include a clear and detailed outline covering the main objective, scope, expectations, deliverables, required skills, available resources, company overview, and your approach to mentorship.
