Representation
Minority-Owned BIPOC-Owned Social Enterprise Community-Focused

Spinning Forward is Toronto’s only independent local media outlet focused on amplifying the voices of content creators of color, aged 16 to 34 years old. ✊🏽🎤 As a social impact organization, our stories include articles, short and long-form videos about how young people navigate issues they care about in real life and online. 🌍📱

CHALLENGE:
We strive to grow community engagement for creators of color through deep, fair, and accurate reporting and storytelling on issues like:

-Underrepresentation in mainstream media 📉
-Access to funding and resources 💰
-Social media algorithm bias 🤖⚖️
-Systemic discrimination 🚫
-Access to opportunities 🚪
-Mental health 🧠💬
-Social justice ✊🏿✊🏾
-Work-life balance ⚖️💼
-Personal growth 🌱

We lift up voices usually not heard by decision-makers, the government, or traditional media. 🎙️👥

NOTE:
We value diverse lived experiences and encourage you to apply even if you don't meet every qualification. 🌈 Research shows that women, trans, non-binary people, and BIPOC candidates often hesitate to apply unless they meet all requirements. 🚻 We're committed to building an inclusive team and welcome candidates from nontraditional backgrounds who can offer fresh perspectives. 🤝✨
