Students in this capstone focus on gaining experience in some aspect of the software industries: software application development, mobile application development, systems analysis and support, web and game development, database design and management, and IT project management. Learners will gain practical experience with exposure to industry standards of planning, developing, and quality assurance testing.

Do you have an idea for a new program that you would like to develop? Or, do you have a new program that needs a formal program design and/or evaluation? A class of health and human service management students will work in groups to create a variety program design and evaluation plans for you to consider or adopt in your organization.

Change can be complicated, let us help!Are you health or human services agency looking to make a change in your organization? We have students that could complete a stakeholder assessment for you and build you a comprehensive change management plan, complete with evaluation strategies. Working in groups of 2-5, students are developing the fundamentals of change management skills, and can apply these tools in a real-world setting to support your organization.Our Change Management course is part of a post-diploma certificate program. These students already hold a diploma or higher credential (bachelor, masters, or PhD) from a health or human services discipline. The students in this program are learning leadership and management skills for their area of expertise.

Fundraising is an essential skill in management for health and human services. In this project, student-consultants working in small groups will apply their knowledge to develop a plan for raising funds from various sources. This can be accomplished by examining a variety of fundraising strategies and developing a case for support. These students will have be looking for experience in applying tools and strategies for fundraising objectives.These student-consultants can provide a lot of value for your company, including developing and preparing a multi-pronged fundraising strategy for a non-profit health or human services organization, and / or providing a case for support presentation to promote an existing fundraising initiative.

Community engagement & project development can be complicated, let us help!Is your community looking to develop ideas for engagement, or would an analysis of your community support the development of a new initiative? We have students that could complete an environmental scan, SWOT analysis, and develop a plan for a community engagement event / initiative for you and build you a comprehensive community development event plan. Identifying a community of interest and determining a gap or challenge that could be supported with a specific event or initiative, learners will develop a plan and proposal to help meet identified needs. Our Community Engagement course is part of a post-diploma certificate program. These students already hold a diploma or higher credential (bachelor, masters, or PhD) from a health or human services discipline.

A talented student with international experience is ready to work on insurance projects that need to be completed in your organization by the end of the summer. This internationally educated insurance underwriter is available for an unpaid internship from June 29 to August 21, 2020 (dates are flexible). Learners are getting ready for virtual or on-site internships.The Corporate Readiness Training Program (CRTP) students have developing strategies, thinking creatively and problem solving skills to support your company. Program participants have professional experience in insurance underwriting projects outside of Canada.Project areas that students can complete may include, but are not limited to:Reviewing underwriting documentationProviding quotationsRisk identificationBow Valley College offers the CRTP. Virtual Internship OpportunityBring on a small team of mid-career learners from Bow Valley College in the Tech Skills Initiative to be your virtual interns, in a project-based experience. The Tech Skills Initiative is a 26-week intensive program that currently focuses on database management, business intelligence, and predictive analytics, and includes a 10-week, unpaid work placement for learners to gain practical experience.Learners will work on one or more projects of your choosing over the placement period, connecting with you as needed with virtual communication tools.Learners are available for 300 hours of placement from October 5th to December 7th, 2020. Learners should complete a minimum of 30 hours/week with your organization for the duration of the placement. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, placements will only occur virtually.

You will gain access to job ready digital design students who will use their skills in designing websites, mobile apps, brand aesthetics, social media and email campaigns, or printed materials for your organization.

Details: Does your organization have a systemic or organizational need?Under supervision of a faculty member with industry experience, the Justice Studies student will present a viable, evidence-based practical response to your need. Students are in class for 45 hours with their instructors and work inside and outside of class on the project between January and April, 2023. The students will develop their project with mentorship provided by a Bow Valley College instructor. This is an unpaid experiential learning opportunity.Learner skills: research, report writing, communication and critical thinking skills, conflict resolution, crisis de-escalation

Concept:We are looking for a client that has a re-decorating or staging project that requires detailed solutions. The learners will work on the project for the entirety of the Winter term (January – April). The client will be required for initial interviews/consultations, at least one concept check in and for the final presentation in April.As this is a decorating solution, there is no movement of existing walls, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical outlets or systems. If this is part of the project, please discuss further with the faculty facility the course to determine if the project could be feasible for the learners.The client will receive a drawing package, control book and solution package for the project.

In this course, students in the Bow Valley Cybersecurity Post-Diploma Certificate will work with your organization to solve a problem or opportunity of your choosing related to cybersecurity. While cybersecurity projects are preferred, projects from all areas of Information Technology will be considered.

The Human Resources Certificate is an 8-month program designed to prepare students for a wide range of responsibilities directly related to the function of Human Resources. In addition to the employment cycle and business training, students receive specific training in human resource management, recruitment, selection, compensation and benefits, learning and development, change management, occupational health and safety, labour relations and employment law. There is a strong emphasis on professionalism and communication skills. Students are available for a 4-week, full-time unpaid field placement at the conclusion of their program.

The Chiu School of Business Co-operative Education program benefits the Calgary business community. Our learners can help your staff at peak periods or during leaves of absence, and provide fresh insight into an organization. Field placements are unpaid, full-time experiences lasting for 6-weeks (210 hours total)

Are you looking for an Administrative Professional (AP) student to assist you with your daily workload? The students from the Bow Valley College Administrative Professional Certificate program will work with your team to perform a variety of assigned administrative tasks.• Students are available 3x/year – January, May or September and must meet strict prerequisites to be eligible for placement• Field placements are unpaid and designed to be mutually beneficial for both host and student• Field placement experiences may be in-person or virtual• The student is required to complete 140 hours (four weeks, full-time)• The host is requested to provide a designated workstation and a variety of duties relating to the student’s education, plus training, supervision, and mentorship• A performance evaluation will be provided to the supervisor for completion and returned to Bow Valley College at the conclusion of the field placement
